Getting back to nature and enjoying the great outdoors is what camping is all about. Making sure that you are prepared can make all the difference between an awesome trip or an absolute nightmare.
What you need to prepare for your trip will depend on many factors-the weather, the location that you have chosen and are you travelling with children or pets? All this needs to be taken into account so that you can relax and enjoy your outdoor adventure.
Shelter will no doubt be the first thing that springs to mind when planning your camping trip. If you have had your tent for some time, you will need to check that it is still in good condition before you leave. Look for any holes or tears in the fabric and make sure you have not lost any of the pegs. If you are purchasing a new tent, it is better to pay more and get quality that will last you for years.
Think about how you are going to do your cooking. Will you have a gas cooker to use or will you barbecue every night? Will you use paper plates, paper cups and plastic cutlery or will you take something from home? No matter what you choose, make sure that you have enough food water for an extra day or two. There is nothing worse than running out of food in the middle of nowhere and having to go racing of to find a shop.
Of course toiletries will be high one your list. Make sure to pack shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, toilet paper, sunscreen and a natrual mosquito repellant. It is best to use some form of insect repellant even at night as there is nothing worse than waking up bleary eyed after being kept awake by the buzzing of a mosquito in your tent.
